Jeep Safari - 3d Route Our jeep-safari starts from Rethymno and through a series of picturesque traditional villages leads us after 24 km to the Monastery of Arkadi. There we stop for coffee and, for those who wish it, a visit of the Monastery. Heading towards the village Thronos, about 7 km away, we start the first part of the drive on dirt road. We proceed with our drive through the mountains and reach Gerakari, a village renowned for the cherries grown there. Leaving Gerakari behind, we reach the beautiful plateau of Nida, and start the second part of our off-road excursion, a 11 km long drive that takes us to Spili. The scenery changes continuously as we drive from the mountains to the seashore. After 22 km of a stunning drive along the coast we reach Preveli beach. At this tropical beach we stop for lunch and swimming. We then drive on for 36 km back to Rethymnon through the impressive gorge Kourtaliotiko and amid verdant scenery.
